Born on December 27, 1965 Salman Khan is the son of the legendary writer Salim Khan, who penned many super-hits in the yesteryear's like sholay (1975), Deewaar (1975), and Don (1978). Salman started his acting carrier in 1988 by doing a supporting role in the movie Biwi Ho To Aisi (1988). The following year he had the leading role in the box office romantic hit Maine pyar kiya  (1989). From there he became a heart throb of Indian cinema.

Controversies• Blackbuck hunting case (1999): Salman & his co-stars of Hum Saath Saath Hain were accused of hunting blackbuck deer & chinkara (endangered animals) while shooting for the film in Jodhpur, Rajasthan.
On 5 April 2018, he was found guilty in the Blackbuck Killing Case and was sentenced to 5 years by the Jodhpur Court, Magistrate Dev Kumar Khatripronounced the verdict. He has been charged under Section 51 of Wildlife (Protection) Act. The Jodhpur Court gave benefit of doubt to "Hum Saath Saath Hain" co-stars, Saif Ali KhanTabuNeelam, and Sonali Bendre.

• Hit-and-run case (2002): Salman drove his car over the people sleeping on the pavement outside a bakery at night. One person was killed, while three persons were injured in this accident.
• His relationship with Aishwarya Rai (2002): Aishwarya's parents lodged a complaint against him for harassing their daughter. Later, he denied all the allegations imposed on him.
